Sony have revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro this morning coming to market November 7th, 2025.
Mark Cerny, in a 9-minute video, went through the main three improvements to the console. Firstly, raw horsepower with a larger, faster GPU. Secondly, much faster Ray Tracing. Lastly, AI upscaling that Sony is calling PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution).
In summary, what this mostly aims to achieve is Fidelity Modes of the PS5, at Performance Mode frame rates. Examples were given of games such as The Last of Us Part II running at 60 FPS but with all the detail of the 30 FPS mode (on the PS5).
Another example demonstrated was Horizon Forbidden West showing some improved visuals such as lighting on the PS5 Pro.
The console also includes improvements such as a 2TB SSD and Wi-Fi 7. All PS5 accessories are compatible including PS VR2 and the external PS5 Disc Drive. No disc drive or vertical stand are included in the PS5 Pro box.
The PS5 Pro will launch in the United States at $699 which converts to $1,049 AUD however Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed.
