In an interview with Bloomberg, Phil Spencer has talked all things Xbox including mobile gaming, cross platform gaming and there was mention of the Xbox Handheld. An extract from the article:
The executive, who has repeatedly professed his admiration for handheld game devices, said the “expectation is that we would do something” in that category. Although the company is working on prototypes and considering what it might do, Spencer also asked his group to look at the market and develop its vision based on what it learns. Such a device is a few years out, he said.
Phil goes on to mention the main focus is currently getting the Xbox PC software working better on existing handhelds.
There are plenty of interesting nuggets in the interview which I highly recommend having a read of. One of the other highly transparent and interesting notes tucked away was regarding Halo on other platforms “It’s too early to make any sort of decision on the next version of Halo.”
It sounds like Xbox is still full steam ahead on expanding the platform to find new players.
