EA Skate Microtransactions Range From €5-€99 In Closed Alpha

Oh No

Electronic Arts (EA) has introduced microtransactions in the closed alpha version of its upcoming game, Skate. These microtransactions utilize an in-game currency called San Van Bucks (SVB), which players can use to purchase various cosmetic items. The available SVB packages range from €5 to €99, offering different amounts of the currency.

The pricing tiers for SVB are as follows:

  • €5/$8.64 AUD – 500 SVB
  • €9.99/$17.26 AUD – 1,050 SVB (includes a 5% bonus)
  • €24.99/$43.18 AUD – 3,000 SVB
  • €49.99/$86.36 AUD – 6,250 SVB
  • €99.99/$172.74 AUD – 13,000 SVB

Examples of items available for purchase include socks (200 SVB), board art (300 SVB), and tank tops (400 SVB). It’s important to note that all items purchased during the alpha will be reset before the game’s early access launch, but any SVB spent will be refunded as San Van Bucks, provided players use the same EA account.

This move to incorporate microtransactions during the alpha phase has sparked discussions among players, with some expressing concerns about monetization strategies at this early stage of development.
