Ubisoft Has Prepared Lawyers For AC Shadows ‘Anti-Harassment Plan’

Good Idea

Ubisoft is reportedly implementing a comprehensive “anti-harassment plan” ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20, 2025. This initiative aims to protect the development team from potential online harassment, particularly in light of recent controversies surrounding the game’s portrayal of Yasuke, a historical African samurai.

According to sources cited by French publication BFMTV, Ubisoft has established a dedicated unit to monitor social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Reddit, and YouTube. This team is prepared to respond swiftly to any targeted harassment, offering both psychological and legal support to affected employees. Lawyers are reportedly on standby to file complaints in cases of proven harassment.

It’s an initiative from Canada. There’s a team that monitors networks and acts quickly in the event of a targeted attack. Unlike what we’ve had before, this is serious.

Messages posted by internet users on X, Reddit, or even videos on YouTube will be closely monitored by a dedicated unit in order to respond quickly to the slightest problem.

Lawyers are already ready to file complaints in the event of proven harassment.

In addition to these measures, Ubisoft has advised its employees against publicly disclosing their affiliation with the company on social media to mitigate potential harassment. The company has emphasized that the safety and well-being of its employees are top priorities, and as such, offers guidance on navigating social media and digital safety, along with support for team members’ overall well-being.

These steps come after months of online backlash, with some critics expressing dissatisfaction over the game’s content and themes. Ubisoft’s proactive approach underscores its commitment to safeguarding its staff from online abuse in the lead-up to the game’s release.
