Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is introducing a new roguelite wave defense mode called Mortis Trials, set to launch on March 25, 2025 as part of the Nightmares and Visions update. This mode offers a fresh challenge for players seeking dynamic and replayable gameplay experiences.
Key Features of Mortis Trials:
- Wave-Based Combat: Players will face 12 waves of enemies, with every third wave introducing special objectives. Completing these objectives rewards players with valuable buffs and supplies, enhancing their combat capabilities as they progress.
- Indulgences System: Before each trial, players select an “indulgence,” which grants unique buffs after each wave. Available indulgences include:
- Pyrokinetic: Enhances fire damage and provides bonuses when attacking burning targets.
- Voltaic: Focuses on electric damage, offering advantages when attacking electrified enemies.
- Fulminator: Combines fire and electric damage enhancements for versatile combat strategies.
- Death Dealer: Specializes in close-quarters combat, improving melee effectiveness and weapon handling.
- Colossus: Increases survivability with boosts to health and melee capabilities.
- Narrative Depth: Engaging in Mortis Trials provides insights into the character Sefoni, offering players a deeper understanding of the game’s lore and backstory.
To participate in Mortis Trials, players must reach Trust Level 13 and access the mode through Sefoni’s Reverie on the Mourningstar. This update underscores Fatshark’s dedication to enriching Darktide’s post-launch content, delivering engaging experiences for both new and returning players.
