Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over 10 million units in its first month of release, setting a first-month sales record for Capcom

Another Milestone

Capcom’s latest release, Monster Hunter Wilds, has achieved remarkable sales milestones since its launch on February 28, 2025. In its first three days, the game sold over 8 million units, making it Capcom’s fastest-selling title ever. By March 31, sales surpassed 10 million units, setting a new first-month sales record for the company.

This success is attributed to several factors, including the introduction of new gameplay mechanics like Focus Mode and seamless transitions between different environments, which have enhanced the immersive experience. Additionally, the game’s availability across multiple platforms—Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S—has contributed to its widespread appeal.

In Japan, Monster Hunter Wilds set a record for the largest physical sales launch of any PlayStation 5 title, selling 1.5 million copies in its first week. The game also achieved a peak of over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam, marking the highest concurrent player count for any Capcom game and the sixth-highest for any game on Steam to date.

Despite its commercial success, some PC players have reported performance issues, including graphics and frame-rate concerns, even on high-end systems. These technical challenges have led to mixed reviews on Steam, affecting the game’s overall rating.

Capcom plans to release the first free content update later this week, introducing new features such as the leviathan Mizutsune, aiming to maintain player engagement and address some of the technical feedback received.
