In a major announcement ahead of Star Wars Celebration Japan, EA has officially revealed Star Wars: Zero Company, a new single-player, turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars. Developed by strategy veterans at Bit Reactor, in partnership with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, the game promises a fresh take on the galaxy far, far away — this time with an XCOM-style twist.
A Tactical Spin on Star Wars
Zero Company is shaping up to be the most tactical Star Wars title to date. Bit Reactor, formed by ex-Firaxis developers known for their work on XCOM and Civilization, is helming the project with Respawn overseeing the broader Star Wars universe under EA’s umbrella.
Set during the height of the Clone Wars, Zero Company follows a newly formed elite squad composed of a Jedi, a rogue clone commander, a Mandalorian-esque mercenary, a slicing-savvy droid, and a mysterious outlaw. According to insiders, the game focuses on smaller, narrative-driven engagements across a galaxy fractured by war.

First Look Coming April 19
The official reveal trailer will debut during Star Wars Celebration Japan on April 19 at 5:30 PM AEST. EA is expected to show gameplay footage and dive deeper into the characters and squad-based mechanics.
Bit Reactor CEO Greg Foertsch stated in a press release, “We want players to feel the weight of every decision — not just in combat, but in how they shape their squad’s future. Zero Company is about loyalty, survival, and the grey areas of war.”
What We Know So Far

- Setting: Clone Wars era

While EA and Lucasfilm are keeping tight-lipped on the full scope of the campaign, sources suggest players will be making high-stakes narrative choices that affect not just the squad’s survival but their stance in the larger war — potentially crossing paths with iconic Jedi, Separatists, and bounty hunters.
More to Come
Zero Company is just one of several Star Wars games Respawn has in development, alongside the upcoming Jedi: Survivor sequel and a mysterious first-person shooter still under wraps. With the tactical genre ripe for a Star Wars spin and Bit Reactor aiming for a grounded, character-driven approach, Zero Company could be the dark horse of the franchise’s gaming future.
