Oblivion Remastered Reveal Set for Tonight – Here’s Everything We Know So Far

Shocked Face

It’s happening. After Week’s of speculation, leaks, and cryptic hints, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is set to be officially unveiled tonight.

Bethesda will be lifting the veil on the long-rumoured remaster during a livestream event scheduled for 1:00 AM AEST / 4:00 PM BST / 11:00 AM ET. The stream will be broadcast on Bethesda’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

A Remaster, or Something More?

While originally billed as a remaster, sources close to the project suggest that this is shaping up to be much closer to a full remake. We’re talking enhanced character models, rebuilt environments, updated lighting, and modernized combat mechanics—all powered by the latest iteration of Bethesda’s Creation Engine.

Leaked images posted last month showed off a reimagined Imperial City with significantly improved textures, draw distances, and lighting effects. The same source indicated that Bethesda is aiming to preserve the core spirit of Oblivion while eliminating many of its infamous quirks.

Release Platforms and Game Pass Day One

As expected, Oblivion Remastered is targeting current-gen platforms only. It will launch on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC

In line with Microsoft’s Game Pass strategy, the game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. A physical release is said to be coming “shortly after launch,” though no specific date has been provided yet.

A Long Time Coming

First released in 2006, Oblivion quickly became one of the most influential Western RPGs of its generation. Its mix of open-world exploration, faction-based storytelling, and classic fantasy lore laid the groundwork for Skyrim’s massive success. With The Elder Scrolls VI still years away, the timing for a return to Cyrodiil couldn’t be better.
