At Summer Game Fest 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled Code Vein 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 action RPG. Set for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game promises to build upon its predecessor’s foundation with enhanced gameplay and a deeper narrative.
The trailer teased a more dynamic combat system that leans into faster paced, fluid action drawing some inspiration from Bloodborne, which is exactly what many of us wanted. From what we’ve seen, expect smoother animations and more combos to tear through the game’s new cast of grotesque enemies.
Speaking of story, Code Vein 2 dives deeper into the lore of the Revenants. The new protagonist is guided by a mysterious girl named “Lou” who apparently has some time-altering powers. That opens up a lot of narrative possibilities maybe time loops, alternate timelines, or just some stylish story twists? I’m here for it.
One thing that really excites me is how the world looks bigger and more interconnected than before, promising more exploration and hidden secrets for those who like to get lost in game worlds. And multiplayer fans can breathe easy Bandai Namco is building on the original’s co-op with improved features for online play.
While there’s still plenty we don’t know, Code Vein 2 looks like it’s on track to deliver a killer sequel that keeps what worked and adds a ton of polish. If you’re a fan of anime Soulslike action RPGs, keep this one on your radar.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for more info, and I’ll definitely be jumping back into the Revenant world when it drops next year.
