Stellar Blade has officially rocketed past 1 million copies sold on Steam within just three days of its PC launch, marking a major milestone not only for developer Shift Up but also for Sony’s expanding PC publishing efforts.
Launching on June 11, 2025, the formerly PlayStation 5 exclusive title stunned the gaming world as it surged up the Steam charts, rapidly becoming Sony’s most successful single-player PC debut to date. This explosive PC performance helped push the game’s combined global sales across PlayStation 5 and PC to over 3 million copies a stunning success for what many initially saw as a niche title.

The PC port has proven to be more than just a second wind. Stellar Blade peaked at over 192,000 concurrent players on Steam, placing it firmly among the platform’s top trending titles. According to data from SteamDB, the game also holds an overwhelmingly positive review rating, sitting comfortably at 92% positive feedback from players a strong indicator that the port has met, if not exceeded, fan expectations in terms of performance, gameplay quality, and content parity.

Originally released in April 2024 for PlayStation 5, Stellar Blade made waves for its combination of high-octane action combat, striking visuals, and a uniquely stylised post-apocalyptic setting. The PC version builds on that strong foundation, offering expanded graphics options, smoother frame rates, and mod support features that have only further endeared it to the hardcore PC crowd.
This success story marks a significant turning point for Sony’s PC strategy. While previous PlayStation-to-PC ports such as God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn saw solid numbers, Stellar Blade’s launch velocity sets a new precedent, especially given its rapid three-day performance. It’s a clear sign that new IPs not just legacy franchises — can flourish in the PC space when handled with care.

Shift Up, a relatively young South Korean studio, now finds itself at the centre of industry attention. Their debut console title is not only a commercial hit but also a critical darling, and the studio has already begun teasing future projects including a possible sequel.
With Stellar Blade’s success, Sony may now be more incentivized than ever to pursue simultaneous PC and console releases, particularly for breakout new titles. And with the Steam version continuing to perform strongly, it’s safe to say that Stellar Blade’s impact on the industry and on Sony’s future publishing model is just beginning.
