NetEase Games has officially revealed Blood Message, a striking new entry into the AAA single-player space, developed by 24 Entertainment’s Lin’an Studio the team behind the successful Naraka: Bladepoint. Set in the twilight of China’s Tang Dynasty, Blood Message marks a dramatic shift for the publisher, signalling its serious ambitions in cinematic, narrative-driven experiences typically dominated by Western studios.

Blood Message transports players to the year 848 A.D., during the Shazhou Uprising a lesser-known but historically rooted conflict that serves as the game’s dramatic backdrop. Players assume the role of a nameless courier accompanied by his young son, as they traverse 3,000 li (roughly 1,000 miles) across a devastated China in a desperate effort to deliver a message that could change the course of history.
From the Buddhist caves of Dunhuang to the gates of the imperial capital, Chang’an, the game promises a deeply personal tale of survival, honor, and sacrifice. The father-son dynamic lies at the heart of Blood Message, giving the journey emotional weight as players face not only external threats but inner conflict and moral choices.
