In a move that longtime fans of the series have been hoping for, Idea Factory International has officially announced that the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth trilogy is launching for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe on September 30, 2025. This marks the first time the full trilogy will be available natively on Sony’s home console in the West.
Originally released on the PlayStation Vita between 2013 and 2015 and later ported to PC via Steam the Re;Birth series serves as a complete remake and reimagining of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia titles, complete with gameplay overhauls, improved visuals, revamped dialogue, and quality-of-life improvements. Each title in the trilogy focuses on a different protagonist and story arc, bringing depth and variety to the world of Gamindustri.
What’s Included in the Trilogy?
The PS4 release will include the following games:
- Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1+ – A reworking of the original Neptunia game, reintroducing players to Neptune and her quest to regain her memories.
- Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation – Focused on the younger sisters of the main goddesses, this entry delivers a darker story with enhanced combat and systems.
- Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3: V Generation – Neptune finds herself in an alternate dimension and must battle her way back while exploring a parody-filled take on the ’80s and ’90s console wars.
Each game is expected to include all previous DLC and improvements from past releases, making this the most definitive version yet for console players.
A Welcome Return to Consoles
While the Neptunia series has maintained a loyal fanbase over the years, it has remained largely relegated to handheld and PC platforms since the early 2010s. This new PS4 collection will allow fans to revisit or discover for the first time the quirky, fourth-wall-breaking humor and charming characters that have made the series a cult favourite.
The decision to release the trilogy on PS4, rather than PS5, appears to be aimed at maximizing accessibility. Many fans who played the series originally on Vita still own PS4 consoles, and this move allows for nostalgia and convenience to align.
Physical and Digital Editions Incoming
According to the publisher, both physical and digital versions of the trilogy will be available on launch day, though details regarding collector’s editions, pricing, and possible upgrades for PS5 users have yet to be revealed. Early reports suggest that physical pre-orders will open soon through the IFI Online Store and select retail partners.
A Bit of Context
Interestingly, the trilogy was previously in development for the Nintendo Switch, but that version was quietly cancelled earlier this year due to what sources close to the publisher described as “content restrictions and platform misalignment.” With the PS4 version now official, many fans see this as a silver lining, especially since the Switch ports had already been suffering multiple delays.
Gamindustri is gearing up for a full-on console revival. With a vibrant cast, tongue-in-cheek storytelling, and surprisingly deep RPG mechanics, the Re;Birth trilogy offers both newcomers and veterans a great excuse to revisit a series that helped define the PS Vita’s RPG legacy.
Mark your calendars September 30, 2025 is when the goddesses make their long-awaited return.
