In what’s shaping up to be a strong month for PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony has officially revealed the free monthly games for August 2025. Starting August 5, members across all PS Plus tiers Essential, Extra, and Premium can claim Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 at no additional cost.

Lies of P Leads the Charge
The standout title this month is undoubtedly Lies of P, the critically acclaimed Souls-like inspired by the story of Pinocchio. Developed by Round8 Studio and originally released in 2023, Lies of P combines challenging, deliberate combat with a haunting Belle Époque aesthetic. The game was praised for its atmospheric world design and satisfying gameplay loop, drawing comparisons to FromSoftware’s Bloodborne.
This addition to the PS Plus lineup gives players who may have missed the game on release a second chance to dive into its dark and twisted tale.
DayZ Brings the Apocalypse
Also included is DayZ, the infamous online survival game set in a brutal, post-apocalyptic world. Originally a ARMA 2 mod before becoming a standalone title, DayZ has maintained a cult following thanks to its punishing gameplay and emergent player-driven stories.
Whether you’re scavenging for supplies, navigating tense interactions with strangers, or simply trying to stay warm during a cold in-game night, DayZ offers a uniquely harsh and unpredictable survival experience.
A Dose of Anime Action
Rounding out the trio is My Hero One’s Justice 2, a 3D arena brawler based on the hit anime My Hero Academia. Featuring a wide roster of heroes and villains from the series, this game lets fans recreate iconic battles or forge their own rivalries. While its mechanics lean more toward accessible fun than deep competitive depth, it’s a solid inclusion for anime lovers and casual fighting game fans alike.
15 Years of PlayStation Plus
August also marks the 15th anniversary of the PlayStation Plus service. To commemorate the milestone, Sony is offering a free commemorative avatar pack to all subscribers. The collection includes artwork and characters from fan-favorite franchises such as God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, Diablo IV, and Twisted Metal.
These avatars will be available for download starting August 5, the same day the new PS Plus games go live.
Last Chance for July’s Titles
Before August’s games drop, subscribers still have a few days left to claim July’s offerings, which include Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant. These will leave the service on August 4, so make sure to add them to your library before then if you haven’t already.
August’s PS Plus games deliver a diverse spread that’s hard to ignore.
