Battlefield 6 Beta Peaks at 10,000 Players on Steam, Two Days Before It Even Launches

The hype is real, and players aren’t waiting for the “official” start.

In an early show of strength, Battlefield 6 has already amassed over 10,000 concurrent players on Steam during its preload period, a full 48 hours ahead of the official beta launch. This early activity stems from a combination of preload access, region-based time rollouts, and a wave of excitement that’s swept across the franchise’s dedicated community.

Although the beta isn’t supposed to go live until later this week, many players who pre-ordered or have access through EA Play have managed to dive in early thanks to server unlocks in specific regions. Word spread quickly via Discord, Reddit, and X (formerly Twitter), leading to a mini-surge of players flooding the servers.

Strong Start Signals High Interest

This kind of engagement is a strong indicator of Battlefield 6’s momentum heading into its full release later this year. While early access to betas typically builds buzz, it’s rare for a game to hit such high concurrent numbers before its scheduled play window even begins.

The game is currently the #2 trending title on Steam’s charts, just behind Counter-Strike 2, and has already climbed into the top 25 most played games on the platform for the week.

What’s in the Beta?

The beta includes one large-scale map, Red Horizon, featuring dynamic weather events and destructible environments two hallmark features the series is doubling down on. Players can test out multiple classes, vehicles, and the all-new Tactical Operations Mode, a twist on traditional Conquest with evolving objectives.

Launch Day Expectations

With the early buzz and solid player turnout, expectations are now even higher for launch day. If the current trajectory holds, Battlefield 6 could rival or even surpass Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V’s beta peaks both of which saw massive player participation in their first few days.

Australian Beta Times:

  • Early Access (for pre-orders & EA Play):
    • Starts: Thursday, August 8 @ 5 AM AEST
  • Open Beta (available to all):
    • Starts: Saturday, August 10 @ 5 AM AEST
  • Ends: Tuesday, August 13 @ 5 AM AEST

EA and DICE have yet to comment officially on the early surge in players, but if these numbers are anything to go by, Battlefield 6 might just be staging one of the franchise’s biggest comebacks.
