Sony is making a strong case for keeping your PlayStation Plus subscription active this month. The August 2025 update delivers a wide range of titles across all tiers, blending blockbuster hits with intriguing indie gems. Whether you’re here for brutal kombat, superhero web-slinging, or a quiet farming getaway, there’s something to dive into.
Essential Tier Highlights
Starting August 5, Essential tier subscribers can claim Lies of P (PS4/PS5), the stylish and unforgiving action-adventure inspired by the tale of Pinocchio. The game’s atmospheric cities, tricky parries, and mysterious narrative make it a standout for Souls-like fans.
Also joining is DayZ (PS4), the long-running survival sandbox where every player you meet could be a savior, a thief, or your worst nightmare. Rounding out the month is My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4), an anime-infused arena brawler that brings the world of My Hero Academia to life with flashy, over-the-top moves.
In celebration of PlayStation Plus’ 15th anniversary, all subscribers will also be able to grab a special set of themed avatars at no extra cost.

Extra & Premium Tier Additions
From August 19, Extra and Premium members are getting a real feast. Mortal Kombat 1 (PS5) headlines the drop, giving fight fans the chance to settle scores in stunningly violent style. Superhero lovers can jump back into Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PS4/PS5) and swing through Insomniac’s beautifully realized New York City.
There’s also Sword of the Sea (PS5), a serene sand-surfing adventure from the creators of Journey; Earth Defense Force 6 (PS4/PS5), which continues the series’ tradition of chaotic alien shootouts; and the tactical fantasy of Unicorn Overlord (PS4/PS5). Rounding out the list are Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, the introspective indie Indika, claymation-style adventure Harold Halibut, and the relaxing life sim Coral Island.
Premium Classics and Extras
Premium subscribers are getting a nostalgic treat with the arrival of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, both available on PS4 and PS5. On top of that, a five-hour trial of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach lets you experience Hideo Kojima’s latest before deciding on a purchase, with all progress carrying over.
August’s PlayStation Plus line-up is a solid mix of genres and tones a month where you can punch out Scorpion in Mortal Kombat, solve surreal mysteries in Harold Halibut, and then wind down tending crops in Coral Island. Whether you’re an Essential-only player or a Premium completist, there’s no shortage of reasons to fire up the console.
