Fans hoping to jump into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on Nintendo’s next-generation console may need to wait a little longer. While the highly anticipated shooter is confirmed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this November, multiple reports suggest the game will not be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.
The claim comes from reliable industry insiders, who say development teams at Activision are currently focused on ensuring the game is polished across its mainline platforms before tackling Nintendo’s upcoming hardware. Given the scope of this year’s entry which includes a full campaign, expanded multiplayer offerings, and the return of Zombies sources point to optimization challenges as a likely reason behind the delay.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Switch owners will be left out entirely. Activision has reiterated that it remains committed to bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo’s ecosystem, though no firm timeline has been provided. In a recent statement, the company said that both its internal teams and partners are “working on getting the franchise onto Switch” and that more details will be shared when the time is right.
Industry analysts believe a Switch 2 version could still materialize sometime after the initial release window, possibly in early 2026. This would follow a familiar pattern in the gaming industry, where late ports allow developers extra time to optimize performance for new hardware without impacting the rollout of other editions.
For now, players eager to dive in will need to look to PlayStation, Xbox, or PC when Black Ops 7 launches worldwide on November 14, 2025. Whether Nintendo’s next console eventually joins the fight is a question only time and Activision’s development schedule will answer.
