Fans of over-the-top snowboarding games may finally have something to cheer about. HYPERYuki: Snowboard Syndicate, a new arcade-style extreme sports title from developer Wabisabi Games and publisher Acclaim, has been announced for PC and consoles. The game aims to revive the high-energy snowboarding scene once dominated by SSX and Cool Boarders, but with a vibrant Y2K-inspired visual style and modern twists.
Set for release in Q1 2026, HYPERYuki will feature eight courses packed with wild rails, ramps, and shortcuts, alongside a full roster of eccentric snowboarders. At launch, players can pick from four characters, with an additional eight unlockable over time. Each rider brings their own flair, backed by an extensive customization system that lets you tweak boards, jackets, boots, and headgear to your liking.
The game won’t just rely on nostalgia. HYPERYuki is designed around three distinct modes: Challenge, which offers objective-based progression; Race, focused on competitive downhill runs against NPCs or friends; and Chill, a laid-back endless mode meant for exploration and style. Multiplayer will be supported both locally and online, with global leaderboards keeping track of high scores and best times.
Wabisabi is also putting a strong emphasis on the soundtrack. Early confirmed artists include YMCK, Trasto NueveVidas, and composer Yusuke Yamauchi, known for work on Tekken and Ace Combat. Combined with the neon-tinged visuals, the music looks set to complete the game’s late-’90s throwback identity.
While only PC has been firmly confirmed via Steam, the studio has stated the game will also come to consoles, though it hasn’t specified which platforms just yet. Given the strong emphasis on multiplayer and trick-heavy gameplay, it would fit right at home on modern PlayStation and Xbox hardware, with a Switch or Switch successor release also possible.
With its blend of arcade chaos, bold style, and accessible snowboarding thrills, HYPERYuki: Snowboard Syndicate is shaping up to be the closest thing fans have had to a new SSX in years. If the final product delivers on its promise, players may once again find themselves chasing impossible combos down gravity-defying mountainsides.
