Stellar Blade Could Come to Xbox and Switch 2, Sources Say

Rumblings around Stellar Blade’s future are starting to heat up again, and this time the talk isn’t about a sequel. According to several people familiar with the situation, Shift Up is exploring the possibility of bringing the once-PlayStation-exclusive action game to both Xbox and Nintendo’s next-gen hardware commonly referred to as the Switch 2.

Nothing is locked in yet, but the conversations are reportedly far enough along that internal teams have started looking at what technical adjustments would be required for each platform. One developer who spoke under the condition of anonymity said the Xbox version would be the “easier lift,” while the Switch successor would need “noticeable but manageable” scalability due to the game’s heavy visual effects.

What’s driving the push? One source pointed to Shift Up’s growing ambition as a worldwide publisher. After the studio began moving Stellar Blade’s IP rights under its own umbrella earlier this year, expanding the game beyond PlayStation became a realistic discussion rather than a hypothetical one.

There’s also the simple factor of momentum. Stellar Blade performed far better than early projections especially in North America and South Korea so broadening its audience makes financial sense. Studios making the jump from platform exclusivity to multi-platform releases isn’t uncommon anymore, even when Sony has been involved in the early publishing.

Still, there are unanswered questions. Sony retains a stake in certain marketing and distribution agreements, and it’s not clear whether those deals introduce any long-term exclusivity windows. One individual familiar with the talks said the earliest any new version could launch would be “well into 2026,” but stressed that the timeline is fluid.

Shift Up has not publicly commented on the situation, and requests for clarification have gone unanswered. For now, it’s simply another case of “where there’s smoke, there’s probably something happening behind the scenes.”

If the project does move forward, Stellar Blade could join a growing list of once-exclusive titles making the jump to more platforms something that would have seemed unlikely just a few years ago.
