Medabots is officially making its return on Nintendo Switch.
Imagineer has announced Medabots Card Robattle RB, a brand-new card battler set in the long-running robot franchise, with a Japanese release date locked in for June 25, 2026.
And in true classic Medabots fashion, it’s launching in two versions.
Two Versions: Kabuto And Kuwagata
Much like the series’ earlier entries, Medabots Card Robattle RB will be available in:

- Kabuto Version – Featuring a shooting-type starter deck
- Kuwagata Version – Featuring a fighting-type starter deck
Each version includes a handful of exclusive cards, though players will still be able to obtain those cards through the Versus Battle mode meaning completionists won’t be forced to double dip.
It’s a nostalgic move that mirrors the franchise’s roots while giving each version its own identity from the jump.
A New Card Game Built Around Classic Robattles
At its core, Medabots Card Robattle RB is a strategic card game that adapts the series’ signature systems into deck-based combat.
Familiar mechanics return in card form, including:
- Customizing mecha with interchangeable parts
- Equipping medals to define combat roles
- Timing powerful special moves like Medaforce
Imagineer says the game preserves the tactical DNA of traditional Robattles while expanding it through deep deck-building systems. With more than 400 cards available, players will have significant flexibility in constructing their ultimate robot lineup.
Long-time fans will recognize not only popular Medabots from past entries but also a wide selection of Medarotters represented as cards.
Over 400 Cards To Collect
Collection appears to be a major focus.
With 400+ cards included at launch, players can experiment with different combinations of parts, medals, and strategies. Deck construction is positioned as the game’s central hook, with “infinite strategic possibilities” emphasized by Imagineer.
For veterans of the franchise, the lineup is described as particularly stacked blending classic fan-favourites with fresh additions.
Modes Breakdown
The game won’t just revolve around casual matches. Imagineer has outlined several modes designed to support both solo and competitive players.
Robattle Challenge
Battle unique “Medal Card Fighters” across different terrains like forests and rocky landscapes. Terrain influences strategy, forcing players to adjust their decks accordingly.
Robattle Tower
A roguelike-style climb mode where opponents and terrain change randomly each run. Players must ascend through increasingly difficult floors, with four difficulty settings:
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Endless
Lose a match, and it’s back to the bottom floor.
Online & Local Battles
- Network Battles allow players to compete online.
- Local Battles support nearby Nintendo Switch systems for in-person play.
A full tutorial mode is also included, making the game accessible to newcomers and younger players unfamiliar with card battlers.
Western Release?
As of now, Medabots Card Robattle RB has only been confirmed for Japan, launching June 25, 2026.
No Western release has been announced.
Given the franchise’s niche but dedicated fanbase outside Japan, international players will be watching closely to see if Imagineer expands distribution plans.
For now, though, Medabots is officially back and this time, it’s bringing a deck of 400 cards with it.
