Xbox announce early details of next gen console

New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has taken to Twitter to announce the next generation Xbox project and confirmed some early info.

Known now as Project Helix, the next generation Xbox will play both Xbox and PC Games, and quote “lead in performance”.

Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console.

Whilst this information isn’t totally new, it’s the most direct confirmation of the future Xbox plans we have and should help with reasonable concerns about console backward compatibility.

This news come as Xbox heads to GDC with a massive lineup of talks to help Developers transition towards supporting the Hybrid Console PC (among other things).

Hopefully we get more drops of information during GDC next week.
