Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem has officially surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide.
The latest entry in the long-running survival horror franchise launched on February 27, 2026, and has quickly become another strong performer for the series as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
A Major Milestone for the Series
According to Capcom, Resident Evil Requiem successfully builds on the franchise’s signature survival horror formula by blending intense fear with more action-focused gameplay.
The game was developed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, the same technology used in several recent titles from the company. The engine allows for highly detailed character models and environments, featuring realistic elements like subtle lighting effects, detailed skin textures, and lifelike animation.
Capcom says the technology helped deliver photorealistic visuals across the entire experience.
A Franchise That Keeps Growing
The Resident Evil series remains one of Capcom’s most successful properties. Since the original game debuted in 1996, the franchise has sold more than 183 million units worldwide across all titles.
With Resident Evil Requiem already reaching the 5 million mark, the series continues to prove that survival horror still has a massive audience decades after its debut.
Capcom says it remains committed to delivering high-quality gameplay experiences as the company continues developing new entries in the franchise.
