Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Update 2 Adds 3 Free DLC Characters

Interesting Line Up

Sega has revealed the next wave of post-launch content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, confirming three new playable characters arriving as part of Free Characters Update #2.

The update continues the game’s crossover-heavy approach, pulling in characters from across different franchises and genres.

New Characters Rolling Out Across April and May

The latest update will introduce three new racers over the coming months:

  • Red – arriving April 2026
  • Goro Majima (Captain Majima) – arriving April 2026
  • Arle Nadja – arriving May 2026

Each character will be added as a free download, expanding the roster without requiring additional purchases.

A Growing Crossover Lineup

The addition of Red, Majima, and Arle highlights the game’s wide-ranging crossover appeal.

Red brings the chaotic energy of the Angry Birds universe into the mix, while Majima one of the most recognizable faces from Sega’s Yakuza (also known as Like a Dragon) adds a more unpredictable edge to the roster.

Meanwhile, Arle Nadja represents the long-running Puyo Puyo franchise, continuing Sega’s trend of pulling from its deep catalogue of characters.

Free Content Keeps Coming

Sega has been steadily supporting Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with post-launch updates, and this latest batch of characters reinforces that approach.

By offering the new racers as free content, the developer is clearly aiming to keep players engaged while broadening the appeal of its already eclectic roster.

Available Soon

The first wave of characters Red and Goro Majima will arrive in April 2026, followed by Arle in May 2026.

With more updates likely on the way, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds continues to build out its identity as a crossover racer that pulls from far beyond the traditional Sonic universe.
