Reports have begun to surface that Warner Bros. Games Montréal has been hit by another round of layoffs, with several experienced team members now publicly seeking new opportunities.
What stands out this time isn’t just the cuts it’s who’s being affected. Among those let go are senior developers who had been with the studio for close to a decade, suggesting this isn’t a minor restructuring but something that cuts deeper into the team’s long-term foundation.
While Warner Bros. Games has yet to formally detail the scope of these layoffs, the situation paints a familiar picture. Over the past couple of years, the publisher has faced a string of setbacks and internal shake-ups that have steadily chipped away at its development pipeline.
It’s been less than a year since the company cancelled its long-in-development Wonder Woman project and shut down multiple studios moves that signalled a broader shift in strategy. Not long after, additional layoffs followed in late 2025, affecting teams across the organization.
Now, the situation appears to have reached WB Montréal.
For a studio best known for its work on the Batman: Arkham Origins and its support roles on other DC-related projects, the timing raises questions about what comes next. There’s been little official word on what the team is currently building, if anything, or how these cuts might impact future releases.
As is often the case with layoffs like these, much of the story is unfolding indirectly through developers updating their profiles, sharing availability posts, and confirming departures in quiet, individual ways rather than through a single formal announcement.
Taken in isolation, layoffs are unfortunately common across the industry right now. But in the context of Warner Bros.’ recent track record cancellations, closures, and repeated workforce reductions it’s becoming harder to view these as isolated incidents.
WB Montréal has lost a number of experienced voices, and in an industry where institutional knowledge matters, that kind of loss doesn’t go unnoticed.
