Peni Parker Revealed for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, New Story Details and Features Confirmed

Here’s Peni

The amazing guardians

A brand-new character reveal has just dropped for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and it’s one that pulls straight from one of Marvel’s most interesting alternate-universe heroes. Peni Parker has officially been confirmed as a playable fighter, arriving alongside new story details, gameplay features, and improvements based on player feedback.

Peni joins the game as part of a team known as the “Amazing Guardians,” a group built around younger-generation heroes stepping into the spotlight. Leading the team is Spider-Man (voiced by Josh Keaton), who’s joined by Ms. Marvel (voiced by Dalia Rooni), Star-Lord (voiced by Scott Porter), and now Peni Parker (voiced by Risa Mei).

In-game, Peni fights by piloting the SP//dr mech suit created by her father, which immediately gives her a very different gameplay identity compared to the rest of the roster. Instead of leaning purely into speed or close-range pressure, she uses gadgets, tools, and mech-based attacks to improvise strategies mid-fight, making her one of the more technical characters revealed so far.

The story side of the game is getting more detail too. The Amazing Guardians aren’t just a random lineup of heroes they’re part of the game’s Episode Mode narrative, which explores how this new generation comes together and whether they can function as a team when the stakes start to escalate. The trailer also introduces a brand-new character known as the Promoter, whose real name is Xirena Awhina. She’s described as an Elder of the Universe and appears to be the one orchestrating a massive tournament that will ultimately decide the fate of Earth.

Alongside the character reveal, the developers also confirmed a new feature called Automatic Team Name Generation. Based on the four characters you select, the game will generate a team name that references Marvel lore, display it on screen, and even have it announced by a ring announcer. It’s a small addition on paper, but one that feels tailor-made for players who like experimenting with team combinations.

There are also several gameplay tweaks coming based on feedback from last year’s closed beta tests. While the full patch notes are available separately, the developers confirmed that the latest build includes multiple refinements aimed at improving overall balance and the feel of the game in competitive play.

If you want to try the newest version early, there’s another chance coming up soon. The latest playable demo will be available at EVO Japan 2026, which takes place in Tokyo from May 1 to May 3. That build will include Peni Parker as a playable character, the Knowhere stage tied to the Amazing Guardians storyline, a total of 12 playable characters, and four stages available during the event.

With more characters still to be revealed and the story mode starting to take shape, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is quickly turning into one of the more interesting fighting games currently on the horizon especially for players who want something that leans just as heavily into Marvel storytelling as it does competitive gameplay.
