Eidos Montréal has announced another major round of layoffs, with 124 employees being let go across the studio. The company also confirmed that Head of Studio David Anfossi is leaving.

In a statement, the studio said the cuts are the result of “changing project needs” and impact both production and support teams. Eidos Montréal added that the layoffs are not a reflection of the affected staff’s talent or performance.

The studio also confirmed that Anfossi, who has been with Eidos Montréal since its early years and served as studio head for over a decade, is parting ways with the company. A leadership transition is now underway, with more details expected later.

It’s another brutal blow for one of the industry’s most recognizable support and RPG-focused studios, best known for its work on Deus Ex and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The layoffs also continue a rough stretch for the studio, which has already been hit by multiple rounds of cuts over the last few years.

Right now, there’s no word on how the layoffs will impact Eidos Montréal’s current or future projects.
