The long-running 3DS storage service officially has an end date, and players have until February 26, 2027, to move their Pokémon.
The end of an era is coming for Pokémon fans.
The Pokémon Company has officially announced that Pokémon Bank will shut down on February 26, 2027. Once the service goes offline, players will no longer be able to store Pokémon using Pokémon Bank or transfer their collections from the 3DS service to Pokémon HOME.
For anyone who still has Pokémon sitting in Pokémon Bank, the message is simple: move them before the shutdown date.
What You Need to Do Before Pokémon Bank Closes
If you still have Pokémon stored in Pokémon Bank, The Pokémon Company is advising players to transfer them to Pokémon HOME before February 26, 2027.
Once Pokémon Bank shuts down, the ability to send Pokémon from Bank to HOME will disappear alongside it.
There are a few other limitations worth keeping in mind:
- New downloads of Pokémon Bank have already ended.
- Pokémon cannot be transferred from Pokémon HOME back into Pokémon Bank.
- PokéMile Points earned through Pokémon Bank cannot be transferred to Pokémon HOME.
- The Bank-to-HOME transfer function will stop when Pokémon Bank shuts down.
So, if you have a decades-old Pokémon collection sitting on your 3DS, now might be the time to check exactly what you’ve got stored away.
Don’t Leave It Until the Last Minute
With the shutdown date now officially confirmed, there is still plenty of time to move your Pokémon.
But if history has taught us anything, waiting until the final day to deal with an online service shutdown is rarely a good idea. Players should make sure their 3DS systems are working, check that they can still access Pokémon Bank and begin transferring any Pokémon they want to preserve.
After February 26, 2027, that opportunity will be gone. For anyone who has spent years building a collection across multiple Pokémon generations, this is your warning.
Pokémon Bank is officially shutting down, and your Pokémon need to be moved to Pokémon HOME before the servers go offline.
You’ve got until February 26, 2027.
After that, the Bank closes for good.
