Rumour: Metroid Ravenous Leaked for Nintendo Switch 2

Metroid

A new Metroid game may have been leaked ahead of an official announcement, with a listing for Metroid Ravenous reportedly appearing in Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security classification database.

While the listing has since been removed, screenshots shared online suggest the game was registered for Nintendo Switch 2, with 2026 listed as its production year. No additional details about the title or its gameplay were included.

If the leak proves accurate, Metroid Ravenous could be Nintendo’s next 2D Metroid adventure. The last side-scrolling entry, Metroid Dread, launched in 2021 to widespread critical acclaim, making the timing plausible for a new installment.

Speculation has also turned to MercurySteam, the studio behind both Metroid Dread and Metroid: Samus Returns. Given its recent history with the franchise, many fans believe it would be the most likely developer should the project be real.

The report follows the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which finally launched for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 after its lengthy development cycle under Retro Studios.

As always with unannounced projects, the information should be treated as rumour until Nintendo provides official confirmation.
