A new rumour suggests Bungie could be involved in remaking the original Borderlands, though the report remains entirely unconfirmed and should be treated with skepticism.
The claim comes from Destiny content creator Trance, who alleges that Bungie, Sony, 2K, and Gearbox Software are in very early discussions about reimagining the 2009 looter shooter as a Destiny-style live-service experience.
According to the rumour, the project would feature an open-world structure similar to Borderlands 4, seasonal paid content, and semi-customizable player characters instead of the original game’s predefined Vault Hunters.
The report also claims that Gearbox is considering a Borderlands 2 remake that could launch as a timed PlayStation 6 exclusive, should the broader partnership move forward.
