Capcom Says It Is Focusing on Reviving Dormant IP

Capcom wants to bring more of its classic franchises back into the spotlight.

Capcom has revealed that it is focusing on re-activating intellectual properties that have not received a new release in recent years, alongside its strategy of delivering major new titles on a regular basis.

The company stated:

“In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently.”

The statement is particularly interesting given the publisher’s extensive catalogue of franchises, many of which have gone years without a new entry.

Capcom has already demonstrated its willingness to revisit older properties, with franchises such as Onimusha and Mega Man returning to the spotlight alongside its continued investment in Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter.

Exactly which dormant IPs Capcom is targeting has not been revealed, but the company’s comments suggest that more classic franchises could be making a comeback in the coming years.

For longtime Capcom fans, there is certainly no shortage of franchises that could be brought back.
