Xbox Game Studios and Ninja Theory have officially unveiled Senua, a brand-new action-adventure game set in the world of Hellblade. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027.
Rather than serving as a direct sequel, Senua is being positioned as a standalone story and an ideal entry point for newcomers to the franchise.
The game follows Senua as she finds herself trapped between life and death in a fractured vision of purgatory. Driven by the hope of reuniting with those she has loved and lost, she must battle terrifying creatures born from myth, fear, and her own mind while navigating a world shaped by memory, pain, and psychosis.
Ninja Theory describes the game as a more action-focused experience, featuring tactical combat, dual-wielding mechanics, powerful abilities, and large-scale boss encounters. Players will also explore an interconnected world inspired by Celtic mythology, solving puzzles and uncovering the truth behind a mysterious golden force threatening Senua’s journey to peace.
While the Hellblade series has been known for its deeply personal storytelling and immersive portrayal of psychosis, Senua appears set to expand the universe with a larger adventure while maintaining the emotional and psychological themes that made the franchise stand out.
