The free-to-play MOBA will end service after nearly six years, with in-game purchases already being suspended and a final event planned for November.

The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group have announced that Pokémon UNITE will officially end service on March 23, 2027, bringing the free-to-play multiplayer battle arena game to a close on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.

Originally launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, before arriving on iOS and Android that September, Pokémon UNITE has spent nearly six years letting players team up and battle using Pokémon from across the franchise.

According to the official announcement, players will be able to enjoy the game until its scheduled shutdown. After service ends, players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles.

Pokémon UNITE Shutdown Schedule

The end-of-service process begins immediately, with the suspension of Aeos gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships taking effect on October 27, 2026. Automatic membership renewals are also being discontinued.

Existing UNITE Club members can continue using their benefits until their current membership period expires, while players can spend any Aeos gems they already own before the game shuts down.

A special in-game event and update will arrive on November 12, 2026, giving players an opportunity to obtain various items, including Unite licenses and Holowear previously released in the game.

The previously announced Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will also proceed as planned, with qualifier tournaments scheduled to begin on December 5, 2026.

A Library Feature Will Preserve Some Game Content

Although online battles will no longer be available after the shutdown, The Pokémon Company plans to introduce a library feature that will allow players to view certain records and in-game content.

Players must download the required library data before service ends on March 23, 2027, to retain access to the feature. Those who miss the deadline will not be able to use it afterward.

The developers also warned that library data generally cannot be transferred between devices and that support for the feature will not be available after the game shuts down.

With the final event approaching, players have several months left to enjoy Pokémon UNITE before its servers close for good.
