Xbox has officially locked in its big summer showcase, confirming that the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 will air on June 7 and will be immediately followed by a dedicated deep dive for Gears of War: E-Day.

According to Xbox, the annual showcase will feature first gameplay reveals, major updates from first-party studios, and new announcements from third-party partners around the world covering everything from major franchise heavy-hitters to smaller breakout projects. If that sounds like standard showcase PR language, it is, but the important part is this: Xbox is once again setting up a double-feature format, and this year’s second act is all about Gears.

Gears of War: E-Day Is Getting the Full Spotlight

Immediately after the main showcase wraps, Xbox will roll straight into Gears of War: E-Day Direct, which will focus entirely on the next entry in the franchise from The Coalition.

Xbox says the presentation will take players back to the start of Emergence Day, offering new gameplay, fresh details, and more insight into what it’s calling the long-awaited origin story of the Gears saga. That alone makes this one of the more important showcases Xbox has done in a while not just because Gears is a legacy franchise, but because E-Day feels like the first time in years that the series has a real shot at feeling essential again.

When It Starts (Including Australia)

The full broadcast goes live on Sunday, June 7 in the U.S., but for Australian viewers, it lands in the early hours of Monday, June 8.

Here’s when it starts:

  • 3:00 AM AEST (Brisbane) – Monday, June 8
  • 3:00 AM AEDT (Melbourne) – Monday, June 8
  • 2:30 AM ACST (Adelaide / Darwin) – Monday, June 8
  • 1:00 AM AWST (Perth) – Monday, June 8

So yes, for Aussie viewers, this is very much a “wake up disgustingly early or catch the trailers when you wake up like a normal person” type of event.

Where to Watch

Xbox says the June 7 double-header will be available in more than 40 languages, along with American Sign Language, British Sign Language, and English Audio Descriptions. The show will stream across:

  • YouTube.com/Xbox
  • Twitch.tv/Xbox
  • Twitch.tv/XboxASL
  • Facebook.com/Xbox

Xbox FanFest Is Also Back

Alongside the showcase announcement, Xbox also confirmed the return of Xbox FanFest as part of its 25th anniversary celebration. This year’s FanFest is being framed as both a retrospective on the last 25 years of Xbox and a look at what’s next. Ticket giveaways are being handled through Xbox directly.

This showcase has a bit more pressure on it than usual.

Xbox is at a point where it doesn’t really need to prove it has games coming it needs to prove those games are worth caring about now. A focused Gears direct helps, especially if E-Day shows well, but the main showcase still needs to do the heavier lifting. If Xbox wants to shift the conversation this summer, this is the stage where it happens.

At the very least, June 7 now has a proper headliner.

And if Gears of War: E-Day shows up swinging, Xbox might finally have one of its stronger showcase nights in a while.
