One of the biggest surprise announcements from Sony’s June 2026 State of Play was the return of a long-dormant racing franchise. Stuntman Hollywood has officially been revealed, bringing back the high-octane stunt-driving action that made the original games cult favourites.
Inspired by classics such as Stuntman, Burnout, and Split/Second, the new title puts players in the role of a professional Hollywood stunt driver tasked with performing increasingly dangerous and spectacular movie sequences.
The reveal trailer showcased explosive set pieces, high-speed chases, precision driving challenges, and gravity-defying jumps across a variety of blockbuster-inspired productions.
Become Hollywood’s Ultimate Stunt Driver
A major highlight of Stuntman Hollywood is its partnership with iconic film and television properties from Universal Pictures and NBCUniversal. Players will recreate memorable moments inspired by franchises including:
- Fast & Furious
- Back to the Future
- Knight Rider
- Miami Vice
- Death Race
The trailer even featured the legendary DeLorean DMC-12, hinting at the variety of vehicles players will get behind the wheel of.
Episodic Movie Productions
The game is structured around a series of fictional movie productions. Each film is divided into episodes that introduce new vehicles, objectives, environments, and stunt challenges.
Players will be tasked with:
- Performing precision drifts
- Crashing through obstacles
- Dodging explosions and hazards
- Driving on two wheels
- Executing perfectly timed jumps
- Maintaining racing lines through dangerous sequences
Adding to the pressure, each stunt sequence is performed under a limited-take system, reflecting the budget constraints of real film productions.
More Than Just Story Missions
Alongside the main campaign, Stuntman Hollywood will feature:
- Free Stunt Mode for unrestricted experimentation
- B-Roll Episodes with bonus challenges
- Stunt Arenas featuring advanced objectives
- A customizable Garage Hub showcasing vehicles, trophies, collectibles, and player progression
A star-based scoring system rewards stylish and precise performances, encouraging players to replay missions and perfect their runs.
The return of the Stuntman franchise looks set to deliver a blend of arcade racing, cinematic action, and over-the-top destruction that should appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Stuntman Hollywood is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027.
