Nearly two minutes of alleged gameplay footage from a remake of the original Persona have surfaced online, potentially offering an early look at Atlus’ unannounced project.
Nearly two minutes of footage reportedly showing a remake of the original Persona have appeared online, suggesting that Atlus could be working on bringing another classic entry in the franchise to modern platforms.
First reported by Gematsu, the footage appears to be an internal development showreel featuring three sections of the game, including exploration, combat and story sequences presented through 2D illustrations.
The video reportedly contains Unreal Engine development text in the upper-left corner, suggesting the footage may have been captured from an early build.
Interestingly, the battle footage also features Tatsuya Suou, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, despite the character not appearing in the original Revelations: Persona.
It’s unclear whether Tatsuya is simply being used as a placeholder or whether the footage could indicate that remakes of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment are also being considered.
Another detail lending credibility to the footage is Eriko Kirishima’s Persona summoning animation, which reportedly resembles the animation used by Yukiko Amagi in the upcoming Persona 4 Revival.
The footage was originally uploaded to YouTube on October 31 by an account named P1REMAKE before spreading across gaming communities and file-sharing websites.
The situation is reminiscent of the early Persona 3 Reload footage that surfaced online in 2023, ahead of that game’s official announcement.
However, Atlus has not officially announced a remake of the original Persona, and the authenticity of the footage remains unverified.
For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to determine whether the original Persona is getting the remake treatment.
