Cloud Imperium Games has released a new look at its long-awaited single-player space epic, with a planned launch in Q2 2027.

Cloud Imperium Games has released a new trailer for Squadron 42, the single-player campaign set in the Star Citizen universe, showcasing its cinematic presentation, first-person combat, space battles, and impressive ensemble cast.

The trailer features several high-profile actors, including Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham, Andy Serkis, Henry Cavill, Ben Mendelsohn, and John Rhys-Davies. Their performances and likenesses feature throughout the game’s narrative-driven cutscenes.

Set in the year 2945, Squadron 42 follows a rookie recruit in the United Empire of Earth Navy as they become caught up in a galactic conflict involving outlaw groups and hostile alien forces. Players will serve aboard a massive capital ship, build relationships with fellow crew members, and face decisions that shape their journey through the war.

Gameplay will combine first-person shooting, exploration, stealth, and space combat, alongside interactive cinematic sequences designed to deliver a more personal story within the wider science-fiction universe.

After more than a decade in development, Squadron 42 is currently targeting a release in Q2 2027. The game is now available to wishlist on Steam, although Cloud Imperium Games has yet to announce a specific launch date.
