InvertMouse, the Sydney based developer behind the Clea series, have announced their next game Gaia Crisis, coming to PC, via Steam.
Gaia Crisis is an anime-style 2D action horror game where “every 1000 years, a vessel is chosen to resurrect War Maiden, bringing death upon this Earth. Blessed by divine powers, you play as Charlotte, the world’s last hope.”
The game comes packed with 24 chapters across three major story arcs where you will tackle puzzles, traps and unique enemies. Plus, finding secret areas will unlock upgrades and bonus costumes. Additionally, the game’s cutscenes are voiced by over 30 people.
Follow Charlotte and War Maiden as their paths converge toward a climactic clash.

“Back when I developed Clea, I used it as an opportunity to assemble the building blocks that can then be used to tackle a much bigger project,” shared InvertMouse. “Thanks to everyone’s support for the Clea series, I was able to assemble the team needed to create Gaia Crisis. I’ve both made and loved games for 30 years. As I get older, I’ve come to appreciate the history of games more. When I’m not working, I like to visit arcades and gaming museums and read or listen to books on games.”
“Even when I nap between dev sessions, often I’m listening to game music! When I learn about past creators who have been through the grind, they inspire me to also do my time. Gaia Crisis has our longest development cycle to date. Connecting with the gaming space as a whole gives me the fuel to endure. After I’m gone, developers in the future will continue to make games. It brings me comfort and peace to remember I’m only a speck in this timeline. Very thankful to play a part!”
Release date information will be shared later, but a demo is planned for January 2027. The Steam store page can be found, here.
