Konami has confirmed that Castlevania is officially making a comeback.
During a recent interview with Nikkei Gaming, Konami Representative Director and President Hideki Hayakawa revealed that the company is actively developing Castlevania as part of its wider strategy to revive some of its biggest classic franchises.
Konami has already brought Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill back into the spotlight through remakes, remasters, and new games, and it now appears Castlevania is next in line.
While Hayakawa didn’t reveal exactly what the new Castlevania project will be, he confirmed that the franchise is currently in active development alongside other major Konami properties.
That leaves plenty of room for speculation.
Castlevania has remained one of Konami’s most beloved franchises despite going years without a major new release. From the original NES classics to Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and the more divisive but ambitious Lords of Shadow series, the franchise has taken many different forms throughout its history.
Konami’s recent comments suggest the company is now looking to bring that legacy into the modern era.Whether fans can expect a complete reboot, remake, or entirely new entry remains unknown.
Either way, after years of waiting, Castlevania is officially returning.
