Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra Adds Consoles, Kicks Off Network Test June 12

Kamehame-ha hype is building again.

Bandai Namco has finally lifted the lid on what was once codenamed Dragon Ball Project: Multi. Say hello to Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra, a free-to-play 4v4 team-based battler that’s now officially heading to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), iOS, and Android.

Even better? You’ll get your first hands-on next week.

Squad Up, Power Up

Gekishin Squadra swaps traditional Dragon Ball fighters for something more strategic. It’s 4-on-4 chaos, with players forming teams of iconic characters to outmanoeuvre and overpower the enemy. Picture Goku, Frieza, Piccolo, and Cell throwing down in structured battle arenas each with unique roles and team synergy mechanics.

This isn’t your average button masher. Bandai Namco describes the game as a “team battle action game” with an emphasis on tactics, class-based roles, and coordinated combat. Think Dragon Ball meets Overwatch, minus the laser rifles and plus a lot more screaming.

Beta Incoming: June 12–16

Here’s your invitation to join the action early. A network test is locked in for June 12 to June 16 (AEST), giving players across all platforms a chance to try out the game before it goes Super Saiyan in full release.

Network Test Times (AEST):

  • Start: Thursday, June 12 at 4:00 PM
  • End: Monday, June 16 at 3:59 AM

You can participate on PS5, PS4, Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. Downloads for the test client will open soon via each platform’s storefront or app marketplace.

Just remember: your progress won’t carry over to the full version.

Free-to-Play, Cross-Play, Cross-Platform

Yep, Gekishin Squadra will be completely free-to-play at launch, and even better cross-platform enabled. That means your squad of Saiyans, Namekians, and Androids can form up across consoles, PC, or mobile without barriers.

Whether you’re on PS5 or playing on your phone during lunch break, you’ll be on the same battlefield.

What’s In the Name?

“Gekishin” roughly translates to “tremor” or “shockwave,” a fitting title for a game that’s all about shattering power levels and controlling the flow of combat. The renaming from “Project: Multi” also signals that this is now the real deal no longer just an experiment.

With a solid gameplay loop, recognizable characters, and Bandai Namco’s growing confidence in the formula, this could be Dragon Ball’s next multiplayer sleeper hit.
