Retroid has officially revealed its first dual-screen handheld, and it looks like a dream machine for retro gaming.
Retroid has unveiled the Retroid Pocket Duo, its first dedicated dual-screen handheld. While details are still limited, the company has confirmed that both displays will use 120Hz OLED panels, with each screen designed around a different aspect ratio.
The top display is 16:9, while the bottom display is 4:3, making the Pocket Duo particularly interesting for games originally designed around dual-screen hardware.
The device follows Retroid’s recent Pocket Nova handheld and expands on the company’s existing flip-style designs and secondary-screen accessories. The Duo appears to be taking a more purpose-built approach to dual-screen gaming rather than relying on add-on hardware.
Retroid has yet to reveal full specifications, pricing, release details, or exactly which platforms the Pocket Duo will target. However, with two OLED displays running at 120Hz, the handheld is already shaping up to be one of Retroid’s most interesting devices yet.
For retro enthusiasts, the combination of a 16:9 primary display and 4:3 secondary screen could make the Pocket Duo an especially compelling option for dual-screen classics.
