HOLY SH&T The StarCraft universe is heading into a new genre.
Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced STARCRAFT, a new story-driven open-world shooter set within the iconic sci-fi universe. The game is currently scheduled to launch in spring 2030, although platforms have yet to be announced.
Details remain extremely limited, but Blizzard describes the project as an open-world shooter focused on a narrative-driven experience. The announcement’s accompanying story teaser calls on a new generation to carry forward the strength of those who previously fought to protect humanity.
The announcement marks a major new direction for the StarCraft franchise, which has traditionally been associated with real-time strategy.
With a 2030 release window, however, it looks like fans will have a considerable wait before Blizzard reveals more about the project.
