Bloodborne is officially getting an animated movie adaptation, with Sony confirming the project during its CinemaCon 2026 presentation.
The film is being developed as an R-rated animated feature, with Sony stating it aims to stay “very true” to the game’s dark and violent tone.
The adaptation is being produced by PlayStation Productions alongside Lyrical Animation, with YouTuber Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin attached as a producer a surprising addition, but one that reflects his well-known passion for the original game.
Details are still extremely limited. There’s currently no director, cast, or release window, and it’s unclear how closely the film will follow the events of the original game or explore a new story within its world.
Originally released in 2015, Bloodborne has built a cult following thanks to its Gothic horror setting, brutal combat, and cryptic storytelling, making it one of the most requested PlayStation properties for a return in some form.
Instead of a sequel or remaster, though, this marks the franchise’s first major leap into film and part of Sony’s growing push to expand its biggest IP into movies and TV.
For now, it’s early days but after years of silence, Bloodborne is finally back… just not in the way most people expected.
