Diablo IV could still be heading to Nintendo Switch 2, but for now, Blizzard is keeping quiet.
Recent reports and past comments from the developer suggest the idea is very much on the table. In fact, former Diablo boss Rod Fergusson previously said there’s “opportunity” to bring the game to Switch 2, noting the hardware should be capable of running it.
That said, there’s a catch.
Blizzard has also pointed out that live-service games which Diablo IV heavily relies on have been “challenging” to support on Nintendo platforms in the past.
More recently, when directly asked about a potential Switch 2 version, Blizzard declined to comment entirely, offering no confirmation either way.
Why It Still Feels Likely
Despite the silence, there’s a strong precedent here.
- Diablo III launched on the original Switch in 2018
- Diablo II: Resurrected followed in 2021
- Both proved the series works extremely well in a handheld format
There have also been rumours and leaks over the past year claiming a Switch 2 version is in development, though nothing official has come from Blizzard.
The Reality Right Now
At this point, a Switch 2 port sits in a familiar place:
- Technically possible? Yes
- Previously discussed internally? Also yes
- Officially confirmed? Not even close
For now, Diablo IV on Switch 2 remains a “wait and see” situation but given Blizzard’s history with Nintendo platforms, it’s hard to rule out.
