Xbox has confirmed that ongoing memory shortages are set to impact both the pricing and availability of its next-generation console, currently known as Project Helix.
In a recent interview with Stephen Totilo of Game File (via Insider Gaming), Xbox CEO Asha Sharma acknowledged that the situation is already being factored into planning and it’s one of the key reasons the company isn’t ready to talk about a launch window just yet.
“Memory Costs Will Impact Pricing”
Speaking on the issue, Sharma was direct about the reality facing the hardware:
“Memory costs will impact pricing, will impact availability.”
She added that Xbox is actively taking the situation into account as it continues development, noting that the global market remains unpredictable.
“The world’s pretty dynamic… we’re not ready to share a launch timeline right now.”
Despite the uncertainty, Sharma emphasized that Xbox’s current priority is staying focused on the fundamentals building strong hardware and software, rather than reacting to every external factor.
“My number one focus… is to build a great console to play great games, including your PC games.”
That statement also reinforces earlier messaging around Project Helix’s ecosystem approach, with Xbox continuing to blur the line between console and PC gaming.
According to Sharma, early feedback from partners has been positive, suggesting internal progress on the hardware itself is still moving forward despite supply concerns.
But between rising component costs and an uncertain supply chain, one thing is clear: Project Helix isn’t launching in a vacuum and those pressures are already shaping what it will look like when it arrives.
