Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games have announced that the second closed test for Horizon Hunters Gathering will run from May 22 to May 25 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
Sign-ups are available now through the PlayStation Beta Program, with the upcoming test introducing major new additions including Hunters, story content, difficulty options, and a brand-new region.
The biggest additions are two new playable Hunters:
- Ensa, an Oseram smuggler with a mercenary past
- Shadow, a Carja covert operative who commands a Stalker machine
Players will also get access to a new playable narrative Episode set in Ashwater Valley, where teams will battle machine hordes while uncovering fresh story elements and mechanics.
Returning modes are also getting expanded:
- Machine Incursion now includes Hard and Merciless difficulty options
- Cauldron Descent features tougher multi-stage encounters and greater team coordination challenges
A new area called Breakers’ Bounty is being added as well, featuring jungles, desert ruins, and dangerous machine-filled environments.
The test will also introduce:
- Training Modules for onboarding
- Solo Mode NPC companions
- Additional player feedback improvements from the first test
According to Guerrilla, these smaller-scale playtests are designed to help shape the game through community feedback before wider rollout plans begin.
Horizon Hunters Gathering is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, with no release date announced yet.
