Made in Brisbane Slumbering Woods coming in 2027

Studio Chunky Quail have announced a 2027 release window for their upcoming “cosy mushroom-planting exploration adventure” Slumbering Woods, releasing on PC via Steam.

The game takes place after you wake from a violent storm having been split from your fellow travellers. You wake in a remote village and need to help the villagers restore their settlement whilst earning their knowledge, tools and hidden paths that lead deep into the fungal forest where “planting is the solution to every obstacle”.

At the heart of the game is planting as puzzle-solving. Mushrooms you grow spread across the land and reshape it. Each species has its own soil needs and unique behavior: some open new routes, others block passages or create safe paths through dangerous areas.

Chunky Quail is also travelling to Kyoto to showcase Slumbering Woods at BitSummit from Friday May 22nd to Sunday May 24th.

“We started developing Slumbering Woods two years ago, inspired by our love of rainforest walks and the incredible ecosystems they support. We wanted to create a world that captures the wonder of discovering strange fungi in nature while also reflecting how fragile these ecosystems can be and how easily they can be disrupted. Turning that inspiration into exploration and puzzle-solving has been an exciting challenge, and we’re happy to finally share the game publicly and bring it to BitSummit for players to experience for the first time.”

The game can be wish listed on Steam now, ahead of the 2027 launch, and the team can be followed on Instagram.
