Square Enix has announced that the Dragon Quest HD-2D Remake series has surpassed 4 million copies shipped and sold worldwide.
The milestone combines sales of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, which together reimagine the classic RPG trilogy using Square Enix’s acclaimed HD-2D visual style.
Released in November 2024, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake quickly became a commercial success, while Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake followed in October 2025, bringing the legendary Erdrick trilogy to modern platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
The collection’s strong performance highlights the continued popularity of the Dragon Quest franchise and the growing demand for modern remakes of classic RPGs. It also marks another major success for Square Enix’s HD-2D initiative, which has revitalized several beloved titles over the past few years.
With more than 4 million copies now sold across the trilogy, the Dragon Quest HD-2D remakes have cemented themselves as one of Square Enix’s most successful modern re-releases.
