Jennifer English Steps Down From Tides of Annihilation Lead Role

Developer Eclipse Glow Games has announced that Jennifer English will no longer voice protagonist Gwendolyn in the upcoming action game Tides of Annihilation due to personal health reasons.

The studio shared the news in a statement on social media, explaining that English informed the team earlier this year that she would be unable to continue in the role. While disappointed by the decision, Eclipse Glow said it fully supports the actor’s choice to prioritize her health.

“We completely understood and respected Jennifer in prioritizing her well-being,” the studio said. “We are also deeply grateful for the care and responsibility she showed throughout this process.”

Although stepping away from the lead role, English will remain involved with the project in an advisory capacity, helping support the game’s development.

Eclipse Glow also confirmed that a new voice actor has already been cast to portray Gwendolyn. According to the studio, the replacement was selected with English’s support and recommendation, alongside input from other members of the voice cast.

The developer described the new performer as someone whose recent work in video games impressed both English and the development team, praising her dedication to understanding the character. Recording is already underway, and players will hear the new voice in the Gamescom 2026 hands-on demo later this month.

Tides of Annihilation is an upcoming single-player action game set across a ruined modern-day London and the mythical realm of Avalon. Players take on the role of Gwendolyn as she battles towering enemies and uncovers the mystery behind a world-changing catastrophe.

Gamescom attendees will be able to go hands-on with the title for the first time when the event opens on August 26.
