The studio has already passed most of its initial $400,000 goal, but the $100 million target is clearly an intentionally ridiculous stretch goal rather than a realistic crowdfunding milestone.

Brütal Legend launched in 2009 and starred Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, a roadie transported into a fantasy world inspired by heavy metal album artwork. The game became one of Double Fine’s most memorable cult hits.

Double Fine recently confirmed that it is still working toward larger projects, explaining that the current Kickstarter is intended to help keep the studio running while it searches for funding.
