A sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is officially in development, with 505 Games and Indolphinity confirming a new chapter in the soulslike franchise following the acquisition of the series’ intellectual property by Digital Bros Group.
The announcement comes after a turbulent year for the franchise, which saw major changes behind the scenes despite the original game’s commercial success.
A New Chapter for Wuchang
In a newly announced development and publishing agreement, Indolphinity a studio founded by Wuchang: Fallen Feathers creator Xia Siyuan will lead creative development on the sequel.
Meanwhile, 505 Games will fund development and handle global publishing duties.
According to the announcement, the next entry will continue to be developed in China, with the companies emphasizing that the series’ creative vision will remain intact.
“All future creative development will remain firmly rooted in China through the close collaboration between the original creator and 505 Games, ensuring the continuity of vision, quality, and execution.”
Digital Bros Expands Its Presence in China
To support the future of the franchise, Digital Bros Group will establish a new subsidiary in Chengdu, China.
The new studio will work alongside Indolphinity and strengthen the publisher’s long-term investment in Chinese game development, supporting both production and publishing efforts for future Wuchang titles.
A Franchise Built on Strong Momentum
Originally released in July 2025, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers quickly established itself as one of the standout soulslike releases of the year.
According to the announcement, the game has now:
- Reached over five million players worldwide
- Peaked at more than 130,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch
Its strong commercial performance made a sequel seem inevitable, despite the uncertainty surrounding the franchise earlier this year.
Following a Difficult Year
The sequel announcement comes after significant restructuring behind the scenes.
Reports surfaced in April 2026 claiming the original development team had been dissolved following the departure of the game’s director.
Shortly afterward, Digital Bros Group acquired the Wuchang intellectual property in a deal reportedly worth more than $4.5 million, paving the way for the franchise’s future under a new publishing structure.
While details on the sequel remain scarce, today’s announcement confirms that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is far from finished, with 505 Games and Indolphinity planning to continue expanding the dark fantasy universe.
No release window or platforms have been announced.
