DragonSword: Awakening Confirmed for Nintendo

Developer Hound13 has confirmed that DragonSword: Awakening is coming to a Nintendo platform, following the game’s successful launch on PC.

While the studio has yet to specify whether the title is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 or another Nintendo console, the announcement comes after DragonSword: Awakening surpassed 200,000 copies sold on PC just one week after release.

Set in the fantasy world of Orbis, the game follows Lute, a young boy whose journey soon intertwines with mercenary Johnny and the elf Castella as an ancient threat begins to awaken. Together, the trio embarks on an adventure that will determine the fate of the continent.

Built in Unreal Engine 5, DragonSword: Awakening features a colourful anime-inspired open world filled with towns, dungeons, hidden caves, underwater areas, and side activities. Players can also recruit adorable companions known as Familiars, cook meals using gathered ingredients, and help the people of Orbis through various quests.

Combat centers around a fast-paced tag-team system featuring 19 playable Heroes, each capable of inflicting unique status ailments. Players can chain together devastating combos using Signal Skills while swapping between party members on the fly.

The story revolves around the return of a legendary Dragon that once devastated the continent 60 years earlier. As Lute searches for the six legendary Heroes who previously defeated the beast, players will uncover the mysteries surrounding Orbis and determine whether a new generation can rise to become the fabled Dragon Sword.

A release date for the Nintendo version has not yet been announced.
